What is in news: The Karnataka government has constituted a Skill and Entrepreneurship Task Force for   entrepreneurship opportunities

Objectives:

• Equipping the youth with digital skills
• Training along entrepreneurial-based models with career counselling and internship/experiential mode.
• Enhancement of employment
• Roadmap for creation of employment
• Aligning market opportunities in digital services, agriculture/agri-tech and various local job-creating verticals like handloom/ handicrafts, manufacturing, tourism, retail/ecommerce and logistics

• Chair - P Ravi Kumar, Secretary to Government, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department

Additional info:

• There are five subgroups and each of them will publish a work-plan with action items and milestones for 12 months.
• The task force will be in force for a period of one year and can be extended if required

What is in news: Justice Department commemorates the milestone of crossing 9 lakh beneficiaries under its Tele-Law programme

• What it offers -
  • Video conferencing facilities and telephone services to connect lawyers to marginalized litigants who need legal advice
  • Common Service Centres at the Panchayat will be the connecting nodes
  • Benefit - Serve the agenda of free legal Aid as mentioned under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987
  • Note : Only marginalized sections get free aid. A minimal amount will be collected from others

What is in news : Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has launched a project on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Why : Promoting open networks developed on open-sourced methodology

What is in news : NASA, has received its first sample of asteroid Ryugu that returned to Earth in December 2020 by Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency

Other Details :

• Hayabusa returned sample capsule to Earth in December 2020, has been extended till 2031
• Asteroid Ryugu
  • Also called as 162173 Ryugu, officially named as “Ryugu” by Minor Planet Center
  • Name refers to Ryugu-ju (Dragon Palace) which is a magical underwater palace in Japanese folktale
  • Discovered in May 1999 by astronomers with Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research at Lincoln Lab’s ETS in United States
  • Near-Earth object and a potentially hazardous asteroid belonging to Apollo group

What is in news : Bollywood Legend Dillip Kumar passed away recently

About :

Dilip Kumar

• Born in the Qissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar (present day Pakistan) to Ayesha Begum and Lala Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
• Debuted in films with 1944’s Jwar Bhata, but the film and his work did not garner much attention. It was with 1947’s Jugnu, also starring Noor Jehan, that he clinched his first box office hit
• In 1949, he starred in Andaz with Raj Kapoor and Nargis, and it was that film that made Dilip Kumar a big star.
• First actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1954, and won it a total of 8 times. He and Shah Rukh Khan jointly hold the record for most Filmfare trophies.
• Listed in the Guinness World Records for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor.
• Credited as the first method actor in India
• Was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015

• Karnataka Chief Minister   approved the development of 46 heritage sites in memory of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, as part of a tourism circuit covering five districts.
• Minister for Road Transport and Highways & MSME Shri Nitin Gadkari declared himself the “Brand Ambassador '' of Khadi Prakritk Paint and said he would promote it across the country so as to encourage young entrepreneurs to take up the manufacturing of cow dung paint.
• The government of India has decided to create a separate ‘Ministry of Cooperation’ with the aim of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ (prosperity through cooperatives).The Ministry will provide a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country. It will, said government sources, “work to streamline the processes for ease of doing business for cooperatives and enable development of multi-State cooperative societies.”
• Experts from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) and Forest College and Research Institute (FC&RI) has undertaken a project to identify native grasses & trees in order to improve elephant habitats and standardise mass multiplication techniques.
• Following a drone attack at Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu, Air force has decided to procure 10 anti-drone systems in order to stop such attacks in future across border areas.
• Digital payments and financial services platform, Paytm, have launched “Postpaid Mini” service for users
