KARNATAKA GOVERNMENT SKILL TASK FORCE

What is in news: The Karnataka government has constituted a Skill and Entrepreneurship Task Force for   entrepreneurship opportunities

Objectives:

  • Equipping the youth with digital skills
  • Training along entrepreneurial-based models with career counselling and internship/experiential mode.
  • Enhancement of employment
  • Roadmap for creation of employment
  • Aligning market opportunities in digital services, agriculture/agri-tech and various local job-creating verticals like handloom/ handicrafts, manufacturing, tourism, retail/ecommerce and logistics

  • Drawn from both private and public sectors
  • Chair - P Ravi Kumar, Secretary to Government, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood Department
  • Commissioner, Collegiate & Technical Education is the Convenor and Madan Padaki, Co-founder & CEO, 1Bridge is the Co-Convenor

Additional info:

  • There are five subgroups and each of them will publish a work-plan with action items and milestones for 12 months.
  • The task force will be in force for a period of one year and can be extended if required

    • Video conferencing facilities and telephone services to connect lawyers to marginalized litigants who need legal advice

    • Benefit - Serve the agenda of free legal Aid as mentioned under Section 12 of the Legal Services Authority Act, 1987
    • Note : Only marginalized sections get free aid. A minimal amount will be collected from others

OPEN NETWORK FOR DIGITAL COMMERCE

What is in news : Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has launched a project on Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC).

Why : Promoting open networks developed on open-sourced methodology

How : Using open specifications & open network protocols independent of any specific platform.

Who is developing : Quality Council of India.

  • Advisory council has been constituted to advise Government regarding the measures required to design and accelerate adoption of ONDC.

  • Hayabusa returned sample capsule to Earth in December 2020, has been extended till 2031
  • Asteroid Ryugu
    • Also called as 162173 Ryugu, officially named as “Ryugu” by Minor Planet Center
    • Name refers to Ryugu-ju (Dragon Palace) which is a magical underwater palace in Japanese folktale
    • Discovered in May 1999 by astronomers with Lincoln Near-Earth Asteroid Research at Lincoln Lab’s ETS in United States
    • Near-Earth object and a potentially hazardous asteroid belonging to Apollo group

What is in news : Bollywood Legend Dillip Kumar passed away recently

About :

Dilip Kumar

  • Born in the Qissa Khawani Bazaar area of Peshawar (present day Pakistan) to Ayesha Begum and Lala Ghulam Sarwar Khan.
  • Debuted in films with 1944’s Jwar Bhata, but the film and his work did not garner much attention. It was with 1947’s Jugnu, also starring Noor Jehan, that he clinched his first box office hit
  • In 1949, he starred in Andaz with Raj Kapoor and Nargis, and it was that film that made Dilip Kumar a big star.
  • First actor to win the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1954, and won it a total of 8 times. He and Shah Rukh Khan jointly hold the record for most Filmfare trophies.
  • Listed in the Guinness World Records for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor.
  • Credited as the first method actor in India
  • Was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994 and Padma Vibhushan in 2015

  • Following a drone attack at Indian Air Force (IAF) station in Jammu, Air force has decided to procure 10 anti-drone systems in order to stop such attacks in future across border areas.
