Union Education Ministry launched the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) 2021 – 2022.

DETAILS

  • First instituted by Department of School Education & Literacy in 2016-17
  • Objective - create self-motivation and awareness on sanitation.
  • Help in recognising, inspiring and awarding the schools, that have undertaken exemplary work pertaining to water, sanitation and hygiene and  provide a benchmark and roadmap for schools for make further improvements in future
  • The schools will be assessed by an online portal & mobile app across 6 sub-categories-
    • Water
    • Hand Washing with soap
    • Sanitation
    • Operation & Maintenance
    • Capacity Building and Behaviour Change
    • COVID-19 Preparedness and Response.

NEAT INITIATIVE

Ministry of Education recently launched the National Educational Alliance for Technology (NEAT) 3.0.

ABOUT THE SCHEME

  • Implementing agency -AICTE
  • Why -
  • Use Artificial Intelligence to make learning more personalized and customized as per the requirements of the learner.
  • Recognize the development of technologies in Adaptive Learning and bring them under a common platform so that learners can access it easily.
  • Proposes to create a National Alliance with such technology developing EdTech Companies through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
  • Other details
  • Ministry would act as a facilitator to ensure that the Adaptive Learning Solutions are freely available to a large number of economically backward students.
  • National NEAT platform will provide one-stop access to Adaptive Learning Solutions.
  • EdTech companies would be responsible for developing solutions and manage the registration of learners through the NEAT portal.
  • This will take the concept of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCS) platform a step ahead

  • He succeeds K Sivan
  • Currently Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC)
  • He will hold post for 3 years
  • Completed Pre Degree from the Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam and did mechanical engineering from the TKM College of Engineering, Kollam, , and in 1985 joined the VSSC centre
  • Did Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore with specialisation in Dynamics and Control.
  • Associated with the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) Project during its initial phase.
  • Became the Associate Director (Projects) of the VSSC and also the Project Director of the GSLV Mk-III launch vehicle in 2010.
  • Deputy Director of Propulsion and Space Ordinance Entity till November 2014.
  • Took over as Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) at Valiamala, Thiruvananthapuram, and served there until January 2018.
