Atal Innovation Mission launched the phase 1 of the 2nd edition of the Atal New India Challenge

DETAILS

  • Flagship program of Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog
  • Aims to seek, select, support and nurture technology-based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance and societal relevance
  • One of the primary goals is to support innovations in areas critical to India’s development and growth – Education, Health, Water and Sanitation, Agriculture, Food Processing, Housing, Energy, Mobility, Space Application etc
  • Challenge aims to address the Commercialization Valley of Death - supporting innovators scale over the risks associated with access to resources for testing, piloting and market creation
  • Solicits innovations from start-ups and MSMEs in the prototype stage and after a competitive process of selection supports them through to the commercialization stage over a course of 12 – 18 months with a funding of up to INR 1 crore along with other associated support from the AIM’s innovation ecosystem.

WHAT IT INVOLVES

financial assistance under the Scheme to the State Governments and Societies, Autonomous bodies, Local Bodies and Trusts registered under the Societies Act 1860, for setting up new Museums

WHAT ARE THE AIMS

  • Strengthen and modernize the existing museums at the Regional, State and District level
  • Develop at least 1 Central / State Government Museum located in the State Capital each year

 

OTHER DETAILS

Components:

  • Establishment and Development of District and Regional Museums:
    • Under this component museums have been classified into two categories:
      • Category-I: Government-owned State level Museums and renowned Museums with exquisite collection.
      • Category-II: all other Museums.
    • The maximum amount of financial assistance provided under this Component is limited to Rs.10 crore.
    • Financial assistance under this component is provided to existing renowned museums of the Central or State Government located in the Capital cities.
    • The maximum financial assistance under this component is limited to Rs. 15 Crore per museum.
  • Establishment and Development of Large-Scale Museums in Public Private Partnership Mode:
    • Under this component, it is proposed to establish large scale museums as joint ventures with State Governments and the civil society in Public Private Partnership Mode.
    • The maximum financial assistance provided under this component is 40% of the project cost subject to a maximum of Rs. 20 Crore per museum.

Union Education Minister released the ‘Mandate Document: Guidelines for the Development of the National Curriculum Framework (NCF)’ at a function held at Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru recently

NATIONAL CURRICULUM FRAMEWORK

  • The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommends the development of National Curriculum Frameworks (NCF) in four areas school education, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), teacher education, and adult education
  • The entire process of curriculum framework is being done in a paperless manner with very wide consultation at the school/district/state level with the help of a tech platform and mobile app
  • The Mandate document describes the development process of the NCF, its expected structure and objectives, and some of the basic principles from the NEP 2020 that will inform the development of the four NCFs
  • NCF is being drafted through a collaborative and consultative process, starting from district to state level and then National level.
  • For providing inputs for the development of these four curriculum frameworks, 25 themes based on the perspectives of the NEP 2020 are identified under the three categories -

1. Curriculum and Pedagogy

2. Cross-cutting Issues

3. Other important areas of NEP 2020 focussing on systemic changes and reforms.

ANTI-SHIP VERSION OF BRAHMOS MISSILE

Anti-ship version of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile was successfully test-fired jointly by the Indian Navy and the Andaman and Nicobar Command

BRAHMOS

  • Joint venture between the Defence Research and Development Organisation of India (DRDO) and the NPOM of Russia
  • Named on the rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva
  • Two-stage (solid propellant engine in the first stage and liquid ramjet in second) missile
  • Multiplatform missile i.e it can be launched from land, air, and sea and multi capability missile with pinpoint accuracy that works in both day and night irrespective of the weather conditions.
  • Operates on the "Fire and Forgets" principle i.e., it does not require further guidance after launch
  • One of the fastest cruise missiles currently operationally deployed with speed of Mach 2.8, which is nearly 3 times more than the speed of sound.
  • Following India’s entry into the MTCR (Missile Technology Control Regime) club in June 2016, the range is planned to be extended to 450 km and to 600km at a later stage.
  • The BrahMos missile was initially developed with a range capped at 290 km.

  • The High Court of Karnataka has permitted the Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) category students to register for the Common Entrance Test (CET)-2022 and participate in the counselling on a par with Indian citizens to pursue their bachelor degree in the general category of seats in engineering, architecture, ayurveda, and other professional courses.
  • Holding that it is the right time to confer juristic status to ‘Mother Nature’, Madras High Court invoked the ‘parens patriae jurisdiction’, and declared ‘Mother Nature’ as a ‘living being’ having the status of a legal entity.
  • Agra has become the first city in India to have a vacuum-based sewers system. These vacuum-based sewers will be used in the city’s public places.
